SOME UPDATES NEEDED

Recently I was doing a search on David Shoch and found a new blog website named, "The Latter Rain Movement of '48" authored by Archibald Thackeray. Brother Thackeray has done an outstanding job of researching and publishing from some original sources. I have posted the link and recommend you take a look.

It has been a while since I updated this website and now I think I can safely say I have "connected the dots" or "followed the breadcrumbs" or however you might describe my discovery of the deep undercurrent of the move of God in our nation. You see, the United States has been the 800 pound gorilla in Biblical eschatology for the better part of one hundred years and the predominant (and dominant) view has posited a pre-tribulation rapture utilizing dispensationalism as a new systematic theology to make their presuppositions fit. I was brought up Lutheran and the Lutherans never believed that. Lutheranism has always been post-trib and Martin Luther believed that since Calvary the Jews have been the synagog of satan. I grew to maturity in Charlotte Baker's church being taught, correctly, that Hal Lindsey did not have the correct view. But it was definitely the minority view as I found in more recent years fellowshipping with the Foursquare, Word-of-Faith and Assemblies of God. No one wants to fight with his brothers so I mostly kept my views to myself, waiting for the day when I knew our God would vindicate the correct view.

My current plan is to update this website to reflect what I have recently found. I can now say with some determination that the main stream where our god is moving in the earth today is exhibited in the new movement called the New Apostolic Reformation. I read, and heartily recommend you read the book by C. Peter Wagner, "This Changes Everything." Believe me, it will change you. Since reading this book I have found other ministries that seem to have a refreshing amount of genuine anointing that are part of the restored apostles and prophets today. Hallelujah!

For instance, Robert Henderson has a wonderful ministry showing the saints how to take our rightful place and win cases in the courts of God. Dutch Sheets has an obvious apostolic anointing for leading the Body of Christ today. And Chuck Pierce has a wonderful prophet's anointing. There are more. I hope to exhibit them here. The LAST OUTPOURING

I know some will not receive what I am about to say, yet many will. I do not believe we have yet seen the glory and fullness of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit as prophesied by Joel. What we have seen are just a few sprinkles! Yes, we have had a worldwide charismatic renewal and love has brought many together. It has been an experience shared worldwide, yet it is just a foretaste.

God will permit nothing to hinder what he plans to do. The enemy is in for a surprise. Just as it appears the church will be inundated by a satanic flood, the Spirit will raise up a standard. Understand what that standard is, and you will understand what God is about to do. The standard is a holy people, pure, undefiled, delivered from the corruption that is in the world. That standard is a new breed of sanctified Christians, who will shine forth as lights in the midst of a wicked and perverse generation. It will not be just a renewal of love and praise, but a restoration of holiness unto the Lord!

There will still be shouting and praise, but it will be the shout of victory over sin and compromise, fulfilling the purpose of the last outpouring: "That all who call on his name shall be delivered..." (Joel 2:32). Delivered from what? From sin! From the spirit of the world!

We will not have had the fullness of the Spirit´s outpouring until baptized people separate themselves completely from the world. We must emphasize separation and purity of heart. The purpose of the Spirit´s coming is to sanctify and prepare a people for the Lord´s return, a people without spot or wrinkle.

When the fullness of the Spirit´s outpouring comes upon all flesh, conviction for sin will be everywhere. "He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment" (John 16:8). That is the outpouring of the Holy Spirit!

Tragically, too many speak with tongues, but then live like the devil. Sin was never uprooted and all they received was an experience of ecstasy. God blessed them just enough to call them into a deeper life of holiness and submission, but they stopped and went about saying, "I´ve got the Holy Ghost."

Oh, there is so much more! I thank God for the privilege of praying in an unknown tongue; it is my way of releasing all the pent-up praises to God in a communication beyond my understanding. But you can speak with the tongues of men and even angels, and without charity, you have received nothing. But I say it goes even deeper. You are not truly baptized with the Holy Spirit until every hidden part of your soul has been exposed-and every sin confessed and forsaken.

Note: Pastor Varner's book, Prevail, A Handbook for the Overcomer, is recommended reading for a clearer insight into this three-fold principle, especially pages 84-85.

Many good ministries function and administer in the first and second dimensions of full salvation; they emphasize the new birth and the Baptism with the Holy Spirit. The New Testament Church has been called to experience these two Feasts of Passover and Pentecost; then we are to grow up to know the Lord in a third experience, the Feast of Tabernacles in the Most Holy Place. This third dimension swallows up and incorporates the first two; we are not doing away with our Baptist or Pentecostal heritage, but are building upon its foundation. Once established in the basics of present truth, we are to go on to perfection or maturity within the vail.

The following authors have taken the time to carefully document the claims and practices of those dedicated to Latter Rain outpouring. In the end, they tell us why they think there is error and try to persuade the reader to reject those views. Their writings are worthwhile to read since the research and documentation have been, for the most part, done fairly.
It is the opinion of this website owner, after considering all the opposing claims, that the biggest problem sticking in the "craw" of these detractors, is that Latter Rain ministries reject the notion of the pre-tribulation rapture. And, an entirely new systematic theology called dispensationalism had to be constructed around this doctrine to support it. I invite you to evaluate both views.

DETRACTORS - ASSEMBLIES OF GOD (Right-click, open link in new tab)

The rejection of the Latter Rain outpouring by the Assemblies of God is well documented. The deep fissure the AG caused in the Full-Gospel movement is mostly forgotten, although it is still visible if you know where to look. I belong to an AG church and, with rare exceptions, no one knows what happened over sixty years ago. My revelations to my brethren, especially when confronting them with the considerable problems inherent with dispensationalism, are soon met with glazed-over eyes. No one wants to fight with their brothers but ignoring the split is not good. Worse, as it has become more obvious with the passage of time that the Latter Rain view has merit, I have observed a strange mixture and confusion of practice in which there is acknowledgment that the Church has already entered "tribulation" yet we are still holding to being removed from it - perhaps a delayed rapture?
The Assemblies of God published a position document in 1948. I have not been able to find it. However, the AG re-published that document in the year 2000 - with a few additions of other movements of which they disapprove. Here is that document on the AG website:

It is interesting to note that Pentecostal scholars admit that personal experience advises their theology. Objective truth about the baptism with the Holy Spirit cannot be verified until it is personally experienced. Read this interesting paper on the AG website:

DETRACTORS - OF THE MOST DESPICABLE KIND - (Right-click, open link in new tab)

The following articles represent the worst misrepresentations of the Latter Rain views I have found. In these articles no effort was made to understand the viewpoints presented and they often misrepresent those viewpoints. They display a despicable lack of brotherly love under the banner of exposing error. I would remind them that eschatology is theory and not doctrine. Therefore, it is NOT the grounds for disfellowshipping anyone! The authors even go so far as to call anyone holding these views a heretic. Shame!
